Privacy Policy

Postbox, Inc. ("Company") knows that you care about how your personal information is used and shared, and we take your privacy seriously. Please read the following to learn more about our privacy policy. By using Company's products and services and/or visiting the Postbox website and domain name, and any other linked pages, features, content, or application services offered from time to time by Company in connection therewith (collectively, the "Services"), you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy.

What does this Privacy Policy Cover?

This Privacy Policy covers Company's treatment of personally identifiable information ("Personal Information") that Company gathers when you use our Services. This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that Company does not own or control, or to individuals that Company does not employ or manage.

What information does Company collect and for what purpose?

The information we gather from customers enables us to personalize and improve our services. We collect the following types of information from our customers:

Personal Information You Provide to Us:

We receive and store any information you enter on our website or provide to us in any other way. The types of Personal Information collected include your full name, email address, credit card and/or other payment information, and any other information necessary for us to provide our Services. You can choose not to provide us with certain information, but then you may not be able to take advantage of many of our features. The Personal Information you provide is used for such purposes as answering questions, notifying you of product updates, and communicating with you about Company's products and services, including specials and new features.

Information Collected Automatically:

We receive and store certain other types of information that are not Personal Information whenever you interact with our Services. For example, Company automatically receives and records information on our website server logs from your browser including your IP address, browser information, cookie information, and the page you requested. Generally, our service automatically collects usage information, such as the numbers and frequency of visitors to our website and its components or the frequency with which users use the Services to interact with third-party sites and services, similar to TV ratings that indicate how many people watched a particular show. Company only uses this data in aggregate or anonymous form, and not in a manner that would identify you personally. In some cases, anonymous information may need to be sent to third parties in order to use some features of the Services, such as web forgery protection or web searches. This type of aggregate or anonymous data also enables us to figure out how often customers use parts of the Services so that we can make the Services appealing to as many customers as possible, and improve those services. As part of this use of information, we may provide aggregate or anonymous information to our partners about how our customers, collectively, use our Services. We share this type of data so that our partners also understand how often people use the Services, so that they, too, may provide you with an optimal experience. Again, Company never discloses aggregate or anonymous information to a partner in a manner that would identify you personally.

Information Collected from Cookies:

  • Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer's hard drive to inform Company on how and when pages from our website are visited and by how many people. We use cookies to enhance visitors' experiences, to learn more about their use of the Services, and to improve quality.
  • The Postbox application and most browsers have an option for turning off the cookie feature, which will prevent Postbox or your browser from accepting new cookies, as well as allowing you to decide on acceptance of each new cookie in a variety of ways. We strongly recommend that you leave the cookies activated, however, because cookies enable you to take advantage of some of our Service's features.

Information from Crash Reports:

In the event of a crash, information about your Postbox application install (platform, version, license data, etc.) or computer (machine type, operating system, available memory or disk space, etc.) may be transmitted to Company for analysis to improve the reliability of our Services.

Information Collected from E-mail Communications from Company:

We often receive a confirmation when you open an email from Company (e.g. promotion, newsletter, etc.), and Company uses this confirmation to help us make our emails more relevant and interesting. When you receive an email from Company, you can opt out of receiving further e-mails by following the included instructions to unsubscribe.

Information from Google or use of Google Services:

The Postbox desktop application uses authorization services such as Google OAuth2. These services authenticate your identity and provide you the option to share certain information with the Postbox application, including your name, email address, and access to your email account.

The Postbox desktop application communicates with Google email services via IMAP, POP, and SMTP protocols to download, store, display, copy, move, delete, tag, mark (e.g., Spam or Not Spam), filter, draft, and send messages.

You can revoke the Postbox application's access to Google services at any time.

Postbox's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Retention and Deletion of Google Services or Data:

The Postbox application, which resides on the user's computer, may access Google services or data as part of its functionality. However, Company does not receive or store any data related to the usage of Google services on its servers. All data related to Google services is stored locally on the user's device and is subject to the data retention policies of the respective Google services.

Since Company does not receive or retain data related to the usage of Google services, any data retention and deletion processes are managed locally on the user's device and are governed by the user's settings and the policies of Google services.

Users can manage their data retention and deletion preferences through the Postbox application settings and the settings provided by Google services. For guidance on managing these settings, users should refer to the relevant documentation provided by the Postbox Help Center and Google.

If users wish to delete data related to their use of Google services within the Postbox application, they can do so by following our guidance on How to Delete an Account and the data deletion procedures provided by Google for their services.

User Content:

Email communications, address book data, calendar events, files or attachments, and other content you provide through our Services ("User Content") are not stored on Company's servers. Certain User Content may be stored on your computer(s) and any other hardware on which you use our Services.
