Choose an E-Mail Account to Use
Pick an IMAP e-mail account of yours for trying out Postbox. Postbox is great for POP accounts, too, but the following guide applies primarily to IMAP accounts.
If you are using Gmail...
Please make sure it has IMAP access enabled:
- In your browser, log into your Gmail account.
- Click the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner and select "Settings."
- In Settings, click the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.
- In the IMAP Access area, check "Enable IMAP."
- Click the Save Changes button.
If you are using iCloud...
If your Apple ID is protected with two-step verification, you'll need to use an app-specific password to sign in to your email account.

The Account Wizard
Enter your name, your e-mail address, your password for the e-mail account, and make sure "Remember Password" is checked. Press Continue.
(To manually enter settings, enter your email address, then click the Manual Setup link in the upper right corner.)
Postbox will then attempt to find the best settings for your account:
If Postbox cannot find the settings for your provider, you'll need to enter them manually. Use Google to search for the correct settings for your account. For example, if you have a Yahoo! account, search for "Yahoo! IMAP Settings," or if you are within a work environment, ask your IT manager for the correct settings to use.
When everything is correctly entered, click "Done."
