    Windows Vista and Windows 7

  • What languages does Postbox support?

Today we support English, but we're now starting to roll out community-translated Language Packs that you can install into Postbox. Languages currently being translated include: German, French, Spanish (Spain), English (British), Italian, Dutch, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, and Swedish, with more on the way! If you would like to help us localize Postbox, please visit our translations page!

  • Can I use Postbox for Gmail, Yahoo mail, AOL mail or other webmail accounts?

You bet! Postbox lets you keep existing email addresses and accounts. In fact, we make any webmail account even better by making it easy to find and use almost anything from your webmail accounts. Please Note: Yahoo! requires that you purchase a Yahoo! Plus account.

  • Does Postbox work like Gmail?

Postbox and Gmail work beautifully together, a match made in heaven. But there are some important differences between Gmail's webmail interface and Postbox that you should know about. Please see our Using Postbox with Gmail page.

  • Can I use Postbox to get mail from my Exchange server?

Postbox currently supports POP3, IMAP, and SMTP protocols, so if your administrator has those protocols turned on in Exchange, then you can use Postbox to send and receive mail from those servers. Postbox does not currently support native Exchange protocols.

  • Does Postbox include a calendar?

Not directly, but you can use the Lightning calendaring extension within Postbox, which provides an integrated calendaring experience. Please see our visit our Lightning page to learn more.

  • Are there add-ons available for Postbox?

Yes! Please see our Add-ons Center for a list of third party add-ons developed for Postbox.

  • Do you provide support for add-ons?

Postbox does not provide support for the functionality of third party add-ons.

Postbox provides a mechanism that allows add-ons from 3rd party developers to be plugged into Postbox. In some instances, such as Lightning, Postbox has performed the necessary work to get an add-on to plug into Postbox, essentially creating a bridge between Postbox and the add-on.

However, Postbox does not provide support for the functionality of third party add-ons, because Postbox did not develop them. Add-on functionality must be supported by the developers of those add-ons. If an add-on isn't working as you expect, or if an add-on is causing problems within Postbox, we recommend contacting the add-on developer directly.

  • Do Mozilla add-ons work in Postbox?

Unmodified Mozilla add-ons do not work within Postbox at this time. Developers of existing Mozilla add-ons need to port their add-ons to Postbox. Sometimes this can be as simple as changing a few parameters, such as product, version, etc., other times the porting effort may be more complex.

We work with extension developers as much as possible, but if there is a particular add-on that you would like to use in Postbox, then we recommend contacting the add-on developer directly to request compatibility with Postbox.

  • What if I do not see my favorite add-on listed?

We work with extension developers as much as possible, but if there is a particular add-on that you really like, our suggestion is always to contact the add-on developer to have them port their add-on to Postbox.

  • Where can I find help?

We have found that the best way to service Postbox customers is to help them, help themselves.  As such, we have a number of support resources available to you.

    1. We always recommend that you search or browse through our User Guides, Knowledge Base Articles, and FAQ
    2. We have a very specific set of Trouble-Shooting Steps that we recommend all Postbox users follow.
    3. Since Postbox is based on Mozilla code, you can search the popular MozillaZine forums to see if any questions are similar to the ones that you have.
    4. Try searching Google, as it is very likely that other people have posted similar questions/answers to the web, particularly for issues that relate to POP or IMAP protocol issues that are common to all email clients.
    5. Additionally, we're currently evaluating a number of different Forum solutions that will enable Postbox users to collaborate and share ideas.  We thank you in advance for your patience as we work towards a solution on this front.

Please note that we do not offer one-on-one support offerings to new users.  All support efforts are currently dedicated towards providing better documentation and self-help solutions so that users can more quickly find the answers they need.

Purchasing Postbox

  • What does the single-user license cover?

Postbox is licensed on a "per person" basis. A single-user license allows you to install Postbox on as many computers that you personally use. For example, you can install and use Postbox on your Mac at home and/or your PC at work.

IMPORTANT: Purchases made through the Mac App Store can only be run on Mac computers. If you need to run Postbox on both Mac and Windows, you must purchase through the Postbox Store, and not through the Mac App Store.

  • What is your upgrade policy?

If you purchased Postbox from the Postbox Store or the MacLegion Fall 2011 bundle on or after August 15th, 2011 then will automatically be upgraded to Postbox 3, as the license key that was issued to you is in fact a Postbox 3 key.

If you purchased Postbox 1.x or Postbox 2.x from the Postbox Store prior to August 15th, 2011, then you are eligible to upgrade to Postbox 3 at a discount. Within Postbox, from the "Go" menu select "Home" to load the start page which will contain information on how to upgrade.

If you purchased Postbox from the Mac App Store, then you are currently not able to upgrade to Postbox 3 at a discount. As a reseller of Postbox, Apple does not provide a mechanism for software upgrades, however, we are hopeful that they will implement this capability in the future.

Updates within a major version (e.g. from 2.0 to 2.0.1, 2.1, etc.) are provided free of charge.

  • Does a license cover both Mac and PC?

If you purchase from the Postbox Store, your Postbox license will work on a Mac, PC, or both!

IMPORTANT: Purchases made through the Mac App Store can only be run on Mac computers. If you need to run Postbox on both Mac and Windows, you must purchase through the Postbox Store, and not through the Mac App Store.

  • Do you offer discounts for seniors, non-profits, or other groups?

Not at this time. But we encourage everyone to become a Facebook Fan, follow us on Twitter, or subscribe to our blog to learn about special deals!

  • Do you charge taxes?

Sometimes, depending upon where you live. Taxes are calculated automatically by our e-commerce provider (FastSpring), and once you enter your address, the e-commerce system will summarize the applicable taxes (if any) on your order confirmation screen prior to purchase.

  • Can I try Postbox before I buy?

Absolutely! Try Postbox for free for 30 days.

  • Do you offer a guarantee?

  • How do I retrieve a lost license key?

  • Is Postbox for sale in the Mac App Store?

Postbox 2 is no longer for sale in the Mac App Store, and we do not have immediate plans to offer Postbox 3 in the Mac App Store. Within Postbox, select "Home" from the Go menu to load the Postbox start page (note: it must be set to the default in Preferences / General). Here you will receive instructions on how to upgrade your Mac App Store copy of Postbox to a fully functional version of Postbox 3 from the Postbox Store.

  • I bought Postbox 2 in the Mac App Store, and need to download Postbox to a new machine. What do I do?

Email us at the Postbox Store and we will be happy to help you out.

  • Why does Postbox purchased from the Postbox Store appear to be "Installed" within the Mac App Store?

The Mac App Store may show software bought from the Postbox Store as “Installed,” even though they’re different products.

If you wish to purchase Postbox from the Mac App Store, simply drag Postbox from your Applications Folder to the Trash, empty your Trash, restart your computer, and the Purchase button will then be re-enabled. Your mail settings and mail databases will not be affected.
